I am trying to install the newest patch but it loads the game with or without the disk in the drive and never completes the install.I put the file Fallout3.exe.cat back to normal but it didn't help.Anyone else having this problem?Thanks

You need to update your game to ver 1.7 for the trainer to work. Initially I had the same problem with an earlier patch, when I foolishly attempted to update the game using G4WL, which won't work if you have modded your game in any way & set it up so you can use a trainer.
Rather than reinstall, just go to the official Fallout web site, download the patch from there and run it (off line)
