First i would like to add that maybe a Mod for this board could make a specific thread for team rating seeing as people like to do these quite a bit.

on to the main topic, i'm trying to opt into someones Gym leader tournament as their water pokemon trainer.

i was thinking of using Empoleon Gyarados Starmie Swampert, Tentacruel, and Vaporeon. (maybe even replacing one with Kingdra,Kyogre, or Manaphy)

i was wondering if i could get some input from someone who knows ACTUAL competitive play (please if you don't seriously know dont just pass information - _ -). such as what EV's would be best and a moveset.

    Thanks in advance

I suggest giving the specific rules you must follow and if these are wifi or Shoddy battles.

If you can I suggest having Kyogre, it'll give an extra 50% damage to your STAB attacks and make Thunder hit all the time.

Kingdra and Manaphy are ridiculously strong in Rain and are underestimated by people who aren't used to playing them (Kingdra with Waterfall and Outrage in the rain is a scary thing to be put against as both attacks will have an attack power of 180, will only be resisted by Empoleon and Shedinja, will have a speed stat of 350 [assuming no IVs, EVs, and a neutral nature] and still have access to two other attacks [Draco Meteor or Surf/ Hydro Pump will take down most physical walls for early game, Dragon Dance will let you sweep late game, Yawn will make your opponent sleep or switch]) Manaphy has great all round stats and will wake up from Rest the first turn in the rain.

Vaporeon is a great option for support as it has decent special defence, great HP and access to Wish and Yawn, its special attack is decent and Surf will hit hard in Rain.

i do have the rules now (or what i was told at least)

i am allowed 6 pokemon and only 1 may be a Legendary. so i have decided to use kyogre as my legendary seeing as it will benefit the ENTIRE team.

so far my solidified choices are

    Kyogre
    Starmie
    Gyarados
    Kingdra

i think i should use tentacruel as a special wall, and maybe vaporeon for some physical hits.

I say your team gets 4 out of 5 stars. teach the water types ice moves so they can beat grass types easily, since they are super effective against water
