Yes that quest is extremely hard to accomplish, it took me more than a regular sims lifetime to get it. I found the life fruit by accident, I was just jogging all over town and planting the seeds that I found, and to catch a deathfish itself is another task for fishing.
I found some special seeds and turned out that it was a couple of money trees(crazy lol) and some life plants. You'll have a better chance with the collectors helper, close to the cemetary and the science lab.
The food replicator is in vain, it does not replicate the ambrosia, best bet is once you get the life fruit from the life plant, you'll harvest two fruits, use one for the ingredient and replant the fruit to have more life plants, as for deathfish, catch as much as you can, and build a pond in your house, and put them there
If you dont have 12,000 to shell out, talk to some sims and exchange recipes, you might get lucky.

Also, Ambrosia cannot normally be duplicated in a Food Replicator; a glitch in the game allows you to store ambrosia in the Food Replicator if you start cooking it and cancel the cooking action when its sprite changes to a bowl. The food replicator will then give you finished Ambrosia dishes. You can, however store it in a refrigerator, as it will "divide" the dish into numerous servings until it spoils." I am going to attempt this method to see if I can get multiple amounts of Ambrosia.

Thanks, now to catch more deatfish, see if the glitch works...
Update, got the mods for lifefruit and deatfish, what I do now is that I edited the cemetary and added a regular dinning area, I have someone make 8 ambrosias per night and set them down in the cemetary, it's been funny watching ghosts come back to life; since some eat it and some of them shoo it.

I WANT ALL THE STUFF REQUIRED FOR THAT MEAL BUT DO NOT WANT TO SPEND 6 HOURS MAKING MY SIM MAXED OUT FOR IT.
