ok, I purchased the Collector Edition from Target and installed in my wife's PC. The game itself is ok, however, somtime the game itself will crash, without any type of cheats enable. Are we all having the same problem since this is a new game and we are still awaiting for an upcoming patches from Sims3 ? My wife PC is pretty current using an eVGA 7800GTX with current driver, 2 GB corsair, 3 GB AMD dual Core, and over 650 Watts psu. I dont think it has nothing to do with the hardware unless the game needs to run on more current GPU cards as known as 8 or 9 series. Maybe its just a patch we are all waiting from Sims 3.
thanks for any info

your rig is outdated by a fair ammount. my wife has a geforce 7900gs, 3.2ghz amd duel core and 4gb of ram and the game wont run on hers smoothly either.
Id advise updating to a geforce 200 series. you dont need a cpu upgrade and windows only allows 3.07gb of ram. Most games these days run 90% off the Graphics card. If you go upgrade to a new 200 series graphics card be careful. the majority of the 200 series need 2x6pin power plugs and a 650w power supply isnt garunteed to have one.
Hope i helped in some way

if you dont have a vid. card from at least 2008 ts3 wont run smoothly. also, please include a dxdiag.txt file or paste the hoe document so we can see if you have anyother software issues. like if u have the latest service pack for ur windows version.etc.,

Hmmm, not for sure exactly why your game will not run smoothly. And to the others saying to get a new Video Card, I am not for sure what that is about.
I am running Sims 3 with a NVidia Gforce 6200 and am not having problems, other than maybe a little slow, but no lockups/crashes. But I am pretty much used to that. The only time I have slow downs is when I save the game or load it. It takes like forever, but really only about 30 seconds.
As for talk about old system, here's my spec.
AMD K7 2200+ MSI Motherboard KT6v-LSR 1 Gig 2700ms Memory NVidia GeForce 6200 (256k mem) A bunch of other garbage that doesn't make that much difference.
And one Big difference probably is I am running Windows XP SP3
So like I said, I don't have a powerhouse of a machine but I am very happy playing Sims 3 now. I am not saying that it doesn't lag sometimes, but I am having a lot of fun playing it.
Oh and about the patches, I check everytime I log on and haven't seen any patches/fixes yet. It always tells me "Your version is up todate.

I run the game at full graphics and such without any lag or problems using a fairly old rig :
Pentium 4HT 3.2GHZ ASUS P5LD2 1.1 rev (can't upgrade to a Core 2 Duo or it would have been done) 4GB DDR2 (only 3.12GB recognized by XP) Nvidia GeForce 9600GT 512MB DDR3 Windows XP Pro SP3 Plenty of disk space
