Never heard of "making custom items", I heard of inserting jewelry, stones into socketed items though.

i read some post that a person can make you custom items. i think his name was Master or somethign like that

You need an Item editor for the game, do a google search for Diablo II 1.12 Item Editor.

Also item editors are only for Singleplayer and Open Battlenet games, you cannot use items made with the item editor in real Battlenet games.

ive made tons of hacker items over the years now for Diablo 2... when u get back to Diablo 2 with no hacker items or any cheater stuff at all, its way more fun ^^

A Hero editor like Mastadex's hero editor is probaly the best way to create custom items in D2:LOD. It takes a little bit of experimenting to get used to all the extra tabs and all but overall the best hero editor Out there.
