    I noticed the directory Game_inf in the Haegemonia main folder, there lies a file called difficulty.inf and in it seems to be difficulty modifiers, which could be edited for getting great boni for the player.

    However, mere notepad can't seem to properly display the data in the inf file (I guess it's some binary file, or something more than mere text). So there's a need to find or make some program that can edit these stats.

    EDIT: I have found that if you download the modding kit for the game, then you get unencrypted INF files, so it is possible to mod it so your ships are invulnerable and you get loads of credits

    If you have the Solon Heritage, go to game_inf directory and there you will see difficulty.inf, otherwise go to
    www.filefront.com/Hegemonia+Legions+of+Iron+Mod+Tools+v10/;1631787;/fileinfo.html

    And download the mod tools, install and then go to it's directory, where you will see a folder for unencrypted infs, go there and take the difficulty.inf from there.

    Copy this difficulty.inf to the game_inf directory of Haegemonia.
    Then edit it (the unencrypted version should be plain text).

    I edited mine like so:
    Spoiler:

    [Difficulty_0]
    {
    DAMAGE = 1.0
    HP = 5.0
    RP = 1.0
    TAX = 100.0
    SpyBonus = 50.0
    }

    [Difficulty_1]
    {
    DAMAGE = 1.0
    HP = 1.0
    RP = 1.0
    TAX = 1.3
    SpyBonus = 0.0
    }

    [Difficulty_2]
    {
    DAMAGE = 1.0
    HP = 1.0
    RP = 1.0
    TAX = 1.0
    SpyBonus = 0.0
    }

    [AI_0]
    {
    DAMAGE = 0.0
    HP = 0.5
    RP = 0.5
    TAX = 0.5
    SpyBonus = -40.0
    }

    [AI_1]
    {
    DAMAGE = 0.8
    HP = 0.8
    RP = 0.8
    TAX = 0.8
    SpyBonus = -20.0
    }

    [AI_2]
    {
    DAMAGE = 1.0
    HP = 1.0
    RP = 1.0
    TAX = 1.0
    SpyBonus = 0.0
    }

    This makes it so on easy difficulty, your units have 5 times the amount of HP and the AI causes NO damage (Invincibility in other words), while also giving you a nice income bonus and making spying a little easier.

    Hope this helps

    Why is it that everyone refers to the modding tools being useable for 'legions of iron' when infact you cant, its only for the solan heritage pack. Even the sites that ive got the tools and the 2.01 patch for state its for LoI but they dont work either, am i missing something, or are they all mis-representing themselves?

    EDIT: This is strange. I just reinstalled my copy from GoG and tried using unencrypted inf files, and it didn't work.
    The modding tools do clearly state that the unencrypted files can be used in the original. Not to mention I have managed in the past to use the unencrypted files for the original game, and gave my ships in the campaign invulnerability.

    Yep something is strange, i can remember that i edited the research files and they where not crypted in Legions in Iron after the release

    Edit: Dooh stupid me, the files under inventions are not crypted.
    But still, why are the files in LOI crypted and TSH not?

    RP = 10.0
    TAX = 100.7

    }

    This trick worked very well using the GOG version on Linux (using WINE). Thanks everyone for the tips. I also want to note that you can make a new plain text file with the aforementioned data and replace the encrypted difficulty.ini with the new one. Might be a good idea to rename the old ini first in case you want to revert back to the original.
