The main difference between most accents is how they pronounce their vowels, which has nothing to do with wether or not they use their mouth or throat, it just depends on the pitch and length of the vowels, and then of course there are some other little differences like most british people not pronouncing the R sound and pronouncing F instead of the TH sound, and then Irish people not pronouncing the TH sound, either pronouncing D, T or nothing at all.
