the last time i logged into gta4 a message appeared prompting me to update games for windows live / xlive. after doing so, i launched my patch3 trainer and then gta4. as soon as the game loaded i noticed some extreme lag and then gta4 was shutdown by windows data protection program. after performing a system restore everything worked again. thought i would pass this info along, if Your using the trainers, do Not choose to update GfWL as it definately does not play nice with the trainers! hope this helps some others using the trainers
Lastnight went to update to patch 3, patch 2 was working fine with the trainer and everything. The program updated GFWL first then GTA4, now with the patch 3 trainer I can play for about 10-30 sec. then a hard crash.
**EDIT** Without the trainer the game works fine, as soon as I activate the trainer it crashes
what fixed this issue for me was to use system restore to rollback the xlive/gfwl update. when i logon i choose no for gfwl update and login offline, that way the trainer still works. hope this helps.
