I felt this should go into FAQ since I have found numerous if not thousands of this same question. How do I get this game to play in vista? This actually took me 6 months of research and the fix was simple. Now this is a fix if you are able to get to the main screen.
In your graphics options you should have something along the lines of Bump Mapping, set it to low and the game should allow you to load into the first cinematic and into the first level perfectly.
