they just patch my game actuly that happen when i was modifying my game now the patch manger or my my for that matter do not work if there a other way to make it work whitout haven to take the game out and wait all day for the game to get downloadet agin i do REALLY REALLY HATE STEAM

ya steam and other systems like steam that auto patch are really anoying

Thats why you don't edit the patch.pack. Duh.

the best thing to do is always make a back up of your patch.pack and main.pack. In the steam window if you right click on your game and go to preferences u can choose when steam updates your game, but you can't control when the steam client updates, but this doesn't affect your game files.

Run Steam in offline mode and you'll never have to worry about it mucking the game up.

File->Run offline

oh and i was told that to edit you do it in that patch pack i normely don´t do it so i listen to some that do it a lot were i shoudt edit then? the main back or something?

patch.pack is a good bet. Just back it up.

Patch.pack is loaded after main.pack and its contents replace like-named contents.

Editing units_table in main.pack does nothing because it's replaced by the units_table in patch.pack.
