...there are plenty of sources that point to 2012 as the end of the world, yet there is really nothing we can do but wait and see... whatever the case, be prepared to witness mass hysteria on the eve of December 21, 2012.
if what the article says is true, that just adds another source predicting bad things in the coming years.

I do not think that we can point it as accurate as December 21, that I agree is stupid because if something happens, we would see it scaling on a couple of years not on a precise date.

Wow. I wasn't gonna post in this topic when it originally was made, but now I feel compelled to say something. You people don't realise, this isn't about asteroids, it isn't about mayan calendars. This topic is about a scary thing that scientists have found, that being the weakening of our solar defences, which means the next time there's gonna be a heap of solar winds, we could be in for a lot of trouble. Read the article on the link before posting and making yourselves look like idiots.
This could be a very serious thing to happen, that might not kill us, but will really ruin our modern lives. Here's hoping that this doesn't happen.
I did read the article. I'm not planning on getting worked up about the sun simply because I believe science is overreacting and TRYING to scare us.

so I guess we should start building armageddon shelters now, huh.
<_< Of course not, who knows, maybe none of us will be around by the time Armegeddon hits.
About the sun... We already are seeing effects on earth like ice caps melting and weird weather. We are the ones destroying earths natural defenses and something will eventually happen scientifically proven or not.

Humans haven't been around long enough. This "global warming" is another time when the temperature fluctuates. The temperature is heating up, that's why we just had the coldest winter in years. Also, ice that has melted has been refrozen and almost back to their original sizes.

Temperature is leading CO2 by about 800 years. CO2 is following temperature changes. How can it be that a higher temperature causes more CO2?
CO2 is a gas produced by all living things. We’re all made of carbon dioxide. Humans aren’t the main source. Volcanoes, animals and bacteria, dying vegetation, and the oceans produce a lot more. The ocean has a memory of temperature changes.
If CO2 doesn’t drive earth’s climate, what does? Look at the sky; the gigantic thing called the Sun. The origin of long-term weather forecasting is the Sun. It’s much more interesting to use sunspots to predict the weather. Sunspots are intense magnetic fields. Astronomers used to count the number of spots thinking that more spots meant warmer weather. During the little ice age, there were few sunspots visible.
