Alright, I'm at my wit's end with all the crashing. Since CA and Sega seem absolutely determined not to do anything about all the problems with this game... I've heard people say the cracked version runs better than the legal version, has anybody experienced this? If so, where's a good place to download it?

I am running the Special Forces edition, paid 70 bucks for it. Runs no problem, never crashed for me once. Explain when and what your doing to diagnose the crashing issue

write down the offset number of your error and google for that it just might get you a solution.

i had a stupid crash to desktop when i wanted to start a new grand campaign because i had turned the battle time limit to 2 hours instead of 1 hour.
thanks to writing down the offset number i could find out what caused it and start a new grand campaign no problem.

the offset number should be top left of the error message.

The crashes seem to happen mostly when I select units. Specifically naval units or ports. Doesn't ever crash or slow down during battles, only from the campaign map. I've got all my graphics settings as low as possible, no help. It happens every single time I play, regardless of trainer usage. As soon as I get over 30-35 turns into a campaign, it starts to slow down dramatically, then, I'll try to select a naval unit, or a port, it freezes for about 5 min, and then crashes to desktop. I've submitted numerous help tickets to SEGA tech support, and every response I get is, we're releasing a patch to address that problem. Well, 2 patches later and it still happens. I've been an avid Total War fan, and was really looking forward to this game, and now it seems to me, they should've worked on it a little longer before release.

Yea, I still get this problem selecting certain naval units/ports. However, mine locks up my computer, so Alt-Tab doesn't work, i need to reset my cpu. I am still on America's grand campain, so I cannot speak for other countries. I just write down the units that lock me up, and I don't select them anymore. I am using store bought DVD, btw.

actually, this happens with me too, but instead it happens when i click on big fleets, ports, cities, and armies. As France, i clicked on Paris, and (i timed it) it took 58 seconds for it to unfreeze, and then next time i clicked on Paris, it crashed.

It happens to me with Paris, too. And Madrid, Southampton, Quebec, Montreal, and the British ports in the Caribean.
