    Or alternatively do this.

    1) Go to C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\empire total war\data.
    2) Make a folder and call it backup.
    3) Copy main.pack and paste it in the backup folder.
    4) Open the original main.pack using the PackFileManager.exe by going to FILE>OPEN.
    5) Find + db and click/expand it.
    6) Scroll down the list and find units_to_special_editions_juncs_tables.
    7) Right click units_to_special_editions_juncs_tables and click Delete File.
    8) Click FILE>SAVE and thats it!

The instruction is very clear to me, even a white mice can do it.

Just to confirm that using this method you will still be allowed to update the game and I can also confirm it works perfectly fine using online multiplayer.

PS. Its one of my guinea pigs, not a mouse.

Is there another way to get the pack file manager? I tried the link in the earlier post and it doesn't work. Thanks!

Does anyone know how to uncap the units. HMS Victory you can only have one unit. So i am hoping some one knows how to uncap it.

if someone could make a mod that unlocks (i own the special forces edition so only the free pre-order units would be added in my case) these units while being in a .pack format that would be great.
here is a link detailing how it should be done but my english and technical skill is not good enough to understand it fully.

    blogs.sega.com/totalwar/2009/03/19/empire-total-war-modding-system/

if its in .pack format patches should not interfere with it nor would anyone be required to mess with the original game files.

Put this "sfunlockable.pack" in your data folder.

Edit: This no longer works with Patch 1.3 or higher. The link has been removed.

That should unlock all the special units. Reply your feedback if it works or not. It does work for me.

there is a way to get rid of the unit limits, but it involves editing each one. you need to download Pack File Manager:

    www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=234546&highlight=pack+file+manager

extract the files in the archive to any folder, doesnt matter where, it will read where the game is. Make sure that all the files (all 3) are in the same folder

open the program, go to "open" and find "patch.pack" and then click on the plus, go to "db" then go to "units_tables" and click on "units".

towards the end, there will be a column titled "unit limit": either set it to some insanely high number (or whatever you want) or to 0 which means no limit. any questions, just pm me.

i take no credit for this, i could never do something this great
