My computer was infected before it came out. I reformatted it so I could play it.

Hmm, okay, well thats simple. Windows updates usually just update the windows OS as well as other microsoft software. it will not update your drivers for your hardware. and windows will NOT auto instal hardware drivers, no matter how much microsoft would like you to think. Now if you right click on "My Computer" Then go to properties (its on the bottom of the window that pops up). go to the third tab, should say hardware, then click on the device manager tab. anything with a yellow question mark means windows does not have the drivers for that peice of hardware, so it might work but with very limited usability, if there is a yellow triangle with an exlimation point, that means that there is a problem with that driver/hardware. it is a miracle you are even able to get on the internet. You need to go to the ATI website and look up the drivers for your graphics card. you need to find out who made your sound hardware and install the drivers from that website. those are two of the major ones, depending on your motherboard there might be different drivers you need. you can also just go to the computer manufacturers website (if it is a name brand comp and not home built one) and they should have all the drivers you need. ^_^.

And yeah, sometimes i think people forget what this country used to stand for =P

thank you. I figured it out. My computer wasn't recognizing the graphics card, or any of its associated video or audio drivers. So, I re-installed all the drivers, and viola! Problem fixed. Thanks guys. You all rock.
