I've had light tanks with only HE rounds knock out my heavy or medium tanks at long range in a single shot to the front. Meanwhile my direct controlled AP-selected rounds roll off the same light tank on a good side hit, where the armor is a lot thinner. Sometimes it takes a few hits just to damage their treads even.
Happens in multiple maps, with many different units.
For a game that models so many units with lots of historical accuracy, theres lots of laughable moments.
It ruins a lot of the feel of some battles if you know them, you have to play with much different tactics than actually were used successfully. Baiting with a heavy tank behind the husk of my other dead tank only to have to use AT grenades from infantry to kill a light/medium at point blank range is retarded and annoying. Yes, its that bad, I use tanks to bait and infantry to kill...
(ie in many famous real battles, superior tanks mowed down countless other tanks and had to be disabled and/or flanked at extreme risk/heavy losses to finally knock them out, or in many cases the ground units said "f-it" and called in air strikes)
AT guns are also vastly underpowered in this game, even with "suprise" shots from cover.
I'd kill for a mod or trainer that would let me fix this to some extent. Or at least let me pretend a little...player vehicles are junk.
but i noticed a flag option in the editor that can make a vehicle indestructible.
Or if you just want it beefed up a little..
give me the full name and what you'd like done, Indestructible or beefed up
Keep in mind, my method of indestructible isn't foolproof, tracks can still be destroyed, and possibly armor by point blank fire or artillery..
beefing them up means I'll only add a few digits to the armor values..
And please, try to minimize the number of vehicles you want edited... as I have to find the text file and edit every single number manually..
I'll check here pretty often..
what i did was made a mod folder for each nation.
like USA Armor/German Armor/Russian Armor and Europe Armor
then when I play that campaign i select the corresponding mod.
that way the tanks have hard armor so that they can last longer.
Or make a mod to make grenades weaker.. notta chance.
EDIT: Got a little modification working. I made some usa tanks have a armor of 999 but the tracks are weak. But the tanks can survive an artillery strike. I still have some more changes to make.

I really didn't think so but there is a way to make your vehicles invulnerable. I don't know why you'd want a tank that can't be destroyed but by using the Editor you can create as many invulnerable tanks as you want and then use them in a saved game.
