I can give a explanation how to use cheat engine to those who have it...
open Uplink create new user or existing (whichever you want) open your money to see how much you have Alt-Tab out Attach cheat engine to Uplink's process (Uplink.exe) is what it should look like. Put how much $ you have in the open blank space and click First scan. --- Go back in-game and buy something Alt-tab out again Input the new amount of money you have in the space you used before then click next scan.
Repeat from --- and until you just get 1 address, that's your money, click the red arrow, it'll fix the address to the bottom then you edit the value to whatever number you like then go back into the game and it should change within a second or two.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------- My pointless drivel buffer will overload shortly.
I would also like to see a trainer. I will try to make one myself as Honest Gamer suggested, but I'm uncertain of how much success I'll have.
The biggest two issues I have with this game, and hence would like to cheat in order to reduce my frustration with, are the lack of manual saves and the lack of feedback. These two issues compound each-other.
The lack of saves prevents you from going back and correcting or exploring what mistakes you might have made. This is also frustrating because it really feels like you completely wasted your time on a character that can no longer be used. I'll have to try copying these tmp and usr files to force my own saves in the future.
The lack of feedback is a more problematic issue. Four times in a row now I have had no idea WHY I was caught. I have suspicions, but nothing I can really point my finger to and learn from in the future. I have even gone as far as to delete all logs of the first and third relay points after every hack and still gotten caught.
The most useful thing for this game would be something that would tell you why and how you lost. Something like:
(MoonTech) agent tacked your path starting at (3:15:15) and finished at (3:30:12) This was your path and logs that lead him to you: (a-->b-->c-->...)
As it is, there's this blindfolded and hand-cuffed in a maze feeling to the game that really diminishes fun.
Update: Manually saving works and makes the game much more fun.
You manually save by just keeping copies of the tmp and usr files named after your agent. When your agent gets busted you just delete the busted agent files and put the saved files back in. (uplink/users)
I,too, vote for an updated trainer. I know this game has been out for ages, but would love to see it updated. This game is just too much fun to shelve. And since it's like only 19mb in size, should be a breeze to install and update.
I also vote for an updated trainer. Thank you HonestGamer for your suggestion that we tackle making a trainer ourselves but.... I would not bring my shoes to be fixed by a tailor and I would not bring my clothes to be mended by a shoe maker. That being said.... ....I am not a trainer maker nor do play one on television so I will not pretend to know what I am doing and will leave the trainer making to the professionals at cheat happens.
