Ok, so I've got the sins of a solar empire trainer, and it works with the game, used to use it all the time, and decided the other day that it'd be fun to play it again. The only difference between this time and the last is that my keyboards detachable num pad is in a box in storage. So, here's a run down of what happens.
1st off, the trainer says Can Be Customized right on it.
I run the customizer, assign all of the hotkeys, hit create key file on the last hotkey, it says OK
I look in the file where the trainer is, there's the little .dat file and even a helpful text file telling me what i've reassigned the keys to. Very nice.
I start the trainer, fire up the game, hit F1 at the menu and get rewarded with a loud "Trainer Activated".
But none of the remapped keys do anything. I've remapped the trainer hotkeys six different times to six different sets of keys, with no joy. I've gone into the game settings and unmapped all of the in-game hot keys, no joy.
Your antivirus or Vista permissions could be blocking the trainer from accessing the keys file.
Well the norton isn't running and its not vista, it's xp. I can't think of anything else that would be blocking it from the key file. I also moved the trainer and keyfile to the same place as the game with no luck.
have you tried using the Trainer Manager? It might help you sort things faster ... I only used custom keys once and that was because I've downloaded the manager
