1. i'm running on Windows XP, i don't like Vista :| so i don't know if kotor is compatible with Vista....(probably not since kotor's last upadate was released before Vista)
2. you can not see the console so it is a bit more dificault to type the cheats. try like this to see if the console works: enter the game, pres the tidle key (~), then type something like WASD, if your character doesn't move when you type that it means the console is working. then press enter to make the console go away, pres the tidle key again and type a cheat like "setcomputeruse 99" (no space in the begining or the end, just one space before the number (99)) and pres enter. if it work then u should be able to see your computer use skill set to 99. hope it helps.

I've played it on Vista and am now playing it on Windows7 without a problem. I did get a notification about a video card, but it still lets me play the game. The notification was about OpenGL and not DirectX. There is a mss32.dll file that specifically fixes crashes in Vista and Win7 you may want to check out. You should be able to Google it.
You need to search for a couple cracks to make KOTOR work on vista, first need to replace the mss32.dll file to let it actually run on vista or you'll just get "The Program has stopped responding" crash report every time you try to load the application, then run it in XP SP2 Compatibility & Running as Admin, also in the games ini file swkotor2.ini you'll have to add in a few lines to make it run without crashing.
Both of these go under the "[Graphics Options]" Emitters=0 Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1
May also need to get the No-CD Crack for the latest official 1.0b release as vista also has issues starting it with the original CD some retarded securerom bug
On another note, while I am posting on here has anyone been able to create a hack/mod file for KOTOR and KOTOR2 to allow the use of the Xbox360 controller, all the same buttons as regular xbox was hoping to remap the keys in game but it wont allow it there
doesnt work for me at all, i tried all uve said i press button under escape and enter but no console or just button under escape

you can't see the console or the cheat that you are typing.... try like this: press the tidle key [`] (the key under escape key, left from the [1] key) then type wasd. if you character doesn't move when you type wasd it means that the console is working. then press enter to exit the console. press the tidle key to enter the console again and type the next cheat: "setdexterity 99" without the ["], no space in the begining or the end, just one space before 99 and then press enter. if you typed corectly you should now have your dexterity set to 99. then repeat the same for each cheat...if your character moves when you type wasd it means that you din't edit the swkotor2.ini file corectly and you should try to edit it again... it's only hard the first time, then it should be easy... i hope it helps you and good luck with your game...

Alright im running windows 7 and i had to "run as administrator" in order for the console to work. The console is still not visible but it is there, just press your ~ and enter the script and press enter. it should work out. test to see if the console is activated by pressing your WASD keys to see if you move. If you dont move your good to go.
