awesome program! Although it seems to have messed up my high elf character. It might have to do with how selected to unlock niob. After trying to enter a niob game, sacred 2 crashes with this message. Now I can't enter into any game with her at all

Is there anywhere I can upload my save file to for you to look at?

Hi, Megiddon. Sorry for the late reply.
First of all try selecting lower difficulty (Platinum or even Gold) and see if it will fix the problem.
If you want to upload the file you can put it on Mediafire ([url]www.mediafire.com'>Link). If I remember correctly you don't have to create account in order to put a file there.

And it would also help if you could answer those question:
    - does the editor correctly recognises the game version?
    - have you changed anything besides difficulty?

    Absolutely love the editor.
Selected the wrong skill on my Dryad and was scrambling to find a way to fix it.. and stumbled across your editor. Recent updates, too! It is amazing, thank you.

I'm curious though: of all the controls in the editor, only the Deity dropdown is greyed out. Is this because it's impossible to change it in the save?

Hello, SageOfGrey. Thanks for the kind word.
Now, answering your question: you are partially right, it is imposible to change the deity. Let me explain.
There are 2 places in a save file that define chosen deity.
One is a single byte that tells the game quickly which deity you have chosen. It is used in a character loading screen to quickly detemine and display your god. This is the byte that is checked by the editor.
Now apart from this there is also a whole section of bytes that determine your god-skill (Devine Gift, or whatever it is called, like for example the Sakkara Demon for Ker). Because I have never managed to find out how to swap combat arts (god-skill is just like any other combat art, savewise), I cannot change god-skill.
Thus, if you used the editor and changed the deity, the only thing you would gain, would be the different god shown on the loading screen, while the Devine Gift skill would still be unchanged. That's why I disabled the deity combo box in the editor.

Don't know if anyone posted the bug yet, but every time I edit a save game all of the items from shared part of the chest are lost.

States of a sacred_2_save_game_cheater's mind, observed on yours truly

    1. "it takes so long to create a decent shopper" , *vaguely remembers a save game editor for sacred*
    2. *downloading and starting* "yay"
    3. "lets make a niob lvl shopper"
    4. "well, I did bring him to niob, so whats stopping me from giving him money?"
    5. "bah, it takes to long to shop for bargaining gear, gonna edit it"
    6. "shopper is done, silver is way to boring lets bring my main to gold"
    7."...niob"
8."he has way to little money, edit"
9 "was this game always this boring?"

    Hello, Booch85.
No one has posted such a bug yet, and I myself have never observed such a behaviour. The truth is that the editor does modify chest file if you change some of your achievements. But I did it a few times and never have my shared items been damaged or lost. I can only guess your savefile (more specifically the chest file) differs in such a curious way that it happens. Could you upload your character and chest file for me to look at? If it really happens every time you use the editor it should be easy to find and fix the bug. Thanks in advance.

"moral - when you cheat, you cheat only yourself" <- I couldn'a agree more.
By the way I had no idea the word "cheat" had such a negative meaning in english language. At darkmatters.org localogarto and gogoblender (somewhere in this thread: Link) even stated that the word should not be used, as most of the DarkMatters community uses the editor to create test characters for their moding purposes.
I can say one thing for sure: one can use the editor in any and every way he or she likes. Whether it is creating test characters, fixing mistakenly chosen skills, or simply creating an all powerfull toon, you're free to do so. But remember - the latter way can really rob you of your enjoyment from the game, as Booch85 pointed out. So please, everyone, use the editor responsibly.

One of the things I like best about this editor is that you can change your character's name. I always miss the character name field on the creation screen.
