Actually, they're doing something about it.

The rival telecom company, du, just launched a 12mbps connection service here. We have Etisalat's measly 1mbps connection, which is more like 300 kbps. The reason we can't upgrade here is because BY LAW if one telecom company occupies an area, the other telecom company is not allowed to have any sort of presence on that area. Which is maddening.

The other thing that gets me is that Etisalat offers a 4 mbps connection for around $30 more a month than the 12 mbps connection. >_<

Toy around with it for a week and you will get everything down or at least know where everything is.
