What do I do to make my pc gamepad work with this Game? I have an alienware gamepad and every time I try to play GTA 4 with it, the camera angle stays stuck and the menu options flip out. What do I need to download or modify to make it work?
Hmm i got Logitech ChillStream gamepad (based on xbox 360 and is detected as xbox 360 controller) and it works fine. Also i got another question is it possible to change the controls? I mean it sux to tthrottle with z axis...
There are alot of threads on various boards of this issue its due to a bug in the patched version.
Other peoples solutions include using an xbox controller emu program because the xbox config works fine. This caused me more problems than its worth as it requires replacing directx dll files.
After an extensive search I discovered someones very simple and very easy fix.
1. Unplug all gamepads 2. Launch the game 3. After the copyright screen and while your logging into LIVE plug the controller back in. 4. Play as normal
Also tried it , and game don't detect controller if i plug in it while game is running. I gonna try to find where controll settings are saved and gonna try to edit it. I don't realy need it but for some parts of the game controller is better than mouse, for example playing pool or bowling.
I bought a madcatz microsoft controller. It works like a charm. Save yourself the aggravation and get one. I find that I'd rather use the mouse and keyboard for shooting anyway though. The controller makes driving sooooooo much easier.
I use the Xbox 360 controller for Windows. Just go out and buy any WIRED 360 controller, they're around $30, plug it in. It won't recognise it, but all you have to do is download the drivers from Microsoft Accessories and its good to go.

If you use Vista they are integrated
Eh... I didn't know that.
But Vista's still unstable on most systems, so I just go with XP SP3. Reliable as always, Vista SP1 crashed my system more times in a day than I eat when I installed it.
