Aye, updating sound card drivers did the trick for me aswell, can recomend that to all the people having issues with random crashings - especially if they mostly happen during cut scenes or dialog, which mine did
Also, this game supports dual cores, so setting the game to run on only one core wont do any good, unless you have emulated cores (the dual core, and not core 2 dual). Most of the crash related problems are due to not having updated graphics and/or sound drivers...
