to the people saying dont use a crack version its up to them if they wanna use it or not u can not tell em what they can n can not do i always use cracks on all my games reason being it saves the discs they dont get scratched when u take them out or put them in the rom drive i buy all my games n then copy them saves using the normal ones all the time which is not against the law to do as long as u have the original game
There's a fine line between convenience and desire. In the case of GTA IV, cracks are pretty inconvenient because of the coding embedded within the game that detects if cracks are in use. If they are, then the game won't run as well. Simple.
ermmm i got this error at first, since im using xp sp2
and then did some editing on registry
Step 1: Run Regedit by Clicking on Start -> Run , type in regedit and press enter
Step 2: Make a backup of your registry (just in case)
Step 3: Browse to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contr ol\Windows"
Step 4: Modify the value of "CSDVersion" from "0x00000200" (SP2) to the Windows XP SP3 value of "0x00000300"
Step 5: Close registry editor
Step 6: Reboot
and the game working fine for me
Works perfectly, thanks man.

What is your problem? are you working for rockstar? if not then its got nothing to do with you if someone wants to use a nocd/dvd crack. The crack as nothing to do with the error RMN40. a google search would have given you the reason for the error
PS. for anyone who wants a good working crack just search and get the Razor1911 version this one works 100% If you have the original game you are not braking any laws by using this crack.

No, I am not. I'm merely using common sense. Rockstar programmed the game to distort itself should it detect the use of cracks or any other mod-related tools. Yes, cracks are mods because they modify the game to run off the hard drive instead of the CD, and disable online play. And because nobody specified that it was simply a no-cd/dvd crack which just disables the need for the disc to play the game, I just assumed it was the former example. Which is illegal.
