Now, I'm pretty certain that's what I have to press down to write down the cheat codes into the game... but the only things I get when I press down those three buttons is no response, a picture taken inside the Spore game (apparently to save fond memories of my game time), or an Hewlet Packard help window (or something like that). Now, I've seen it be done by my friends, which get a window pop up to the left in the game screen in which there's a space much like the ones you can write the names of your creatures in for you to write down the cheat... but that window just doesn't pop for me!
Are there any other key combinations I can press down to put my codes into the game? Am I supposed some settings in Spore so that it'll allow me to get the window pop-up?
What do I have to do?

You need to makes sure that you have updated Spore to latest patched version -
download update 1.01 - install it. then download update 1.02 - and install that, then finally, install patch 1.03 - and the ctrl +shift+C will work - It only works from version 1.01 onwards. As far as I am aware, each update does not include previous update patches. So you need to update it three times to get to the latest version (so far)
download the update through the included download manager or spore.com or any other site that has reliable copies of these files.

You don't have to have version 1.01 in order for the console to work. I have the original unpatched version installed on my computer and the console works just fine. So there is something else wrong for the people having problems

I had this problem with other game's console using Ctrl + Shift + C . Trying pressing it when there is nothing running on your desktop and see which program hotkey it is assign to; just change it. Mine was Stardock CursorXP. Hope this helps

no.... even if you needed to donwload a patch for it to work, you dont download all three patches. Just download the latest patch. But I dont think you need a patch. Maybe the game just redircted the command box buttons to something else. Maybe try the sims 2 command buttons(ctrl+c or v)?
