The newest Command and Conquer, Red Alert 3, has its' merits but I still donot like it as well as the Dawn of War Games. It moves at a rapid pace and you don't have the freedom to plan the way you want to conquer your enemy. So far every phase I have played, you are instructed to do this that or the other while been backed by an ally and can only proceed one way. Unlike Dawn of War and others who leave it up to you how you want to proceed and conquer the world, through the selection of territory you elect to attack or by pass until some later time, in Red Alert Three it's dried and cut. The scenario is set up to be played the way EA wants it to be and you have to play the scenario chosen in the progression of missions. Another thing I don't really like is the lack of modding, which can be done with this mod. EA doesn't encourage this and there are no recent editors etc, or mod tools such as Corsix with which to do this. I will play it since it cost me 50 bucks and even though I like some of it, it will never be able to replace THQ and the Dawn of War games with me.

I'll have to disagree, the game is very nice, but the thing is since red alert 2 many strategy games have come out and people are just not used to play the red alert way anymore, i've been playing it for a while now, and you'll love it, but you just have to learn it again to enjoy it.

They went back to single because thats how it was done in EVERY SINGLE C&C game except for C&C3.

My thoughts exactly. Also, it allows you the option to run single units, vice a whole squad which is far more noticeable on radar.

Furthermore, if you want a fire team/squad comprised of mixed units, you have that option, vice a entire gaggle of 4-6 infantry... just means more meat for the tanks to roll over

Ya sorry GGaius, I think Red Alert 3 is a very good game. I used to play Red Alert 2 + Yuris Revenge and I just couldnt get enough of them. This new one really brings back the old times but with upgraded graphics and good naval combat. I'm glad they made this game. I will agree with you however that the Dawn of War games are great games, but Red Alert 3 trys to stick with the old Red Alert style. And im glad they did.

yeah they tried to stick with the red alert style, but they didn't quite pull it off. i could start listing reasons, but i'm tired so i'll cut it short.

as a game ra3 is pretty good, but as a successor to the red alert series it comes up lacking.

i would say that i'm a bit disappointed, but given the current state of ea, i'm not really that surprised
Power does not corrupt, corruption comes from within.
