i have to digg this one out again, because i found a way to get it to work.

all you need to do, is everything we allready found out in this tread, but in addition to that, you need to change a single character in one of the game-files.
the file is located there: Documents and Settings\[Your Username]\My Games\Fallout3\FALLOUT.ini

the line you need to change is that one: bInvalidateOlderFiles=0
you need to change the 0 (zero) to a 1 (one)

this doesn't just enable you to listen to your own music, it's also needet for ALL mods out there, and those still to come.

i forgot something.
you might need to create a new file for this to work properly.
the file needs to be called ArchiveInvalidation.txt and it needs to be placed in your Fallout3 folder. the one, where you find the Fallout3.exe!

in this .txt file you need to write what you changed. (i'm at a colossal shortage of the right words here)

i'll better explain as thorough as possible.

you want to change agatha's radiostation with your own music.
so you create the following folders in your "Fallout3\Data" folder:
sound \ songs \ radio \ violin
in the violin-folder you place 12 mp3's of your choice wich are called:
mus_violin_noodling_01_radio.mp3
mus_violin_noodling_02_radio.mp3
mus_violin_noodling_03_radio.mp3
mus_violin_noodling_04_radio.mp3
mus_violin_noodling_05_radio.mp3
mus_violin_noodling_06_radio.mp3
mus_violin_partitano3gigue_bach_radio.mp3
mus_violin_partitano3p_bach_radio.mp3
mus_violin_sonatano2grave_bach_radio.mp3
mus_violin_vc_1stmov_dvorak_radio.mp3
mus_violin_vc_2ndmov_dvorak_radio.mp3
mus_violin_z_sarasate_radio.mp3

if you are done with this, you create or open your "ArchiveInvalidation.txt" and put the following inside:
Extracted\sound\songs\radio\violin\mus_violin_noodling_01_radio.mp3
Extracted\sound\songs\radio\violin\mus_violin_noodling_02_radio.mp3
Extracted\sound\songs\radio\violin\mus_violin_noodling_03_radio.mp3
Extracted\sound\songs\radio\violin\mus_violin_noodling_04_radio.mp3
Extracted\sound\songs\radio\violin\mus_violin_noodling_05_radio.mp3
Extracted\sound\songs\radio\violin\mus_violin_noodling_06_radio.mp3
Extracted\sound\songs\radio\violin\mus_violin_partitano3gigue_bach_radio.mp3
Extracted\sound\songs\radio\violin\mus_violin_partitano3p_bach_radio.mp3
Extracted\sound\songs\radio\violin\mus_violin_sonatano2grave_bach_radio.mp3
Extracted\sound\songs\radio\violin\mus_violin_vc_1stmov_dvorak_radio.mp3

now the game should play your music, instead of the original tracks.
