if you press ~ and the HUD goes away then console is activated even if you don't see it it's there. just type in what you want to type and press enter and your good.

Hm Jurant & Titanviper you don't play on a laptop or?
Maybe there is something similar between fallout 3 and oblivion because i had to disable the infrared controler for the console ... can only validate it in a few hours or tomorrow when the package arives.
But it would be my first suggestion in this case.

Nope, the HUD does not go away. There is no change in the game display at all when depressing the ~ and/or ` keys. Attempting to input the, for example, god command (it's short) just results in the rest / wait menu opening in-game.

Apparently this is a long standing issue for some people. It appears to be Vista & XP Media Edition related.

Many people resolved this by removing the remote device for media control, but I don't have that driver installed or a remote media controller. I do have a media center keyboard, but swapping keyboards had no impact. The keyboard driver is listed as "standard ps2 keyboard".

Googling "tilde vista game" will reveal pages of people with this issue and there appears to be no single easy fix.

If someone finds anything that works, let me know.
