I completed most of it quickly, then got a bit into the space section...and gave up completely. Once of the biggest waste of money i have spent on a game, and believe me, i have bought many. I couldn't even take the sodding game back because it uses online registration.
Anyone else feel the same way about this game?
The thing Spore really does is shows people what's possible with the technology we have. Spore introduced procedural generation into the gaming mechanics. It allows people to create functional Pixar-esque creations with an artist's touch.
I suppose to truly enjoy the game you have to like technology alot, and be a fan of the Sims type games.
Though, Spore is no Alone in the Dark.
Tribal and Civ stage can be beaten in about 20-30 minutes each, really.
In Tribal I just immediately have the two guys go gather or fish, and pop out the max amount of babies, wait until I have enough money to buy the Didgeriedoo, or horn or maracas, assign the two of each, and ally the other tribe.
The second a new one appears I bring a gift around to all of them to get a blue smiley, and then wait until my food builds up, then I hit one tribe with 2 instruments each ally with them, make the third instruments, assign two to each, ally etc etc, until I have enough Trib Members to assign 3 instruments each, then I ally the rest of the map
Civ stage, I Immediately build as many land vehicles as I can, send them all out to take over the spice geysers, if I'm lucky an Economic civ pops ups, so I take convert that immediately and keep Economic as the specialty, sell all my religious vehicles and get everyone to blue smiley status, propose trade routes to all, and sit back and have a sandwich, everybody joins me after a while and the stage is over.
I just think they removed a lot of stuff... but then again people was too eager to get the game that i think they released with a lot of missing parts.
Though I am kind of tired of people getting the game and saying a day later that they "beat" the game. You can't "beat" spore, it's like the Sims in that manner it's endless, unless you die. But, I suppose people are entitled to their opinions. Also I just find so much fun in seeing what other people made with this game. There's just so much difference between what I would think to create and the vast variety of what everyone else creates.
