I dont think any flood in halo 1 survived so i doubt keyes blob evolved into gravemind. I think that the flood was evolving keyes into a gravemind tho, but since the Halo was destroyed it didnt reach full form.
However the first flood outbreak in Halo 2 is on the PLANET near the halo in a flood research facility so i think your right there. But the halo near this planet had the flood virus also (they all contain the virus) and i think the heretic already visited it and released the flood there before master cheif arrived, giving gravemind chance to grow.

On another note, gravemind studies the humans and covenant and 'absorbs' some of them (regret, yek) then somehow the flood learn how to control their technology, in halo 1 cortana said something about the flood 'trying to get inside his brain' (keyes) which shows they take information from their enemys and learn new things, like flying pelicans....badly. And about the trap? The covenant got to that facility before johnson, his squad followed a group in there then ran into the flood. Dont know if that was a trap tho

HEY! you know those weird lookin trees in the 343 guilty spark level in halo?well the trees had flood in them.if you look closely at the flood in dark place when there dead,you'll see somthing glow in them.And once you go and look at the trees,you will see them glowing just likethe flood was.so they had to have came from there

yeah they come from the trees or maybe thats just a coincidental glitch and you pay attention to dead bodies and trees to much

well they are just noticable including when there in the dark because they just glowbesides theres a million trees in that level anywayz 😵

maybe they just put them there to annoy you.
