To enable trading between Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed, and LeafGreen, you must finish Story Mode. Once done, trading can be done via GCN/GBA cable from the trade center in the basement of Phenac City's pokémon center. Do note that you cannot trade unpurified shadow pokémon to either version."
