This is a mod to reduce alien attacks and disasters.

    File - www.megaupload.com/?d=Q3Q6NQ20
    All times are averages
    Pirate attacks - 1.5 hr
Ally pirate attacks - 4 hr
    Grox - 2 hr
    Biodisaster - 1 hr

    2 hr version - www.megaupload.com/?d=8EN0WTQF
    200 hr version - www.megaupload.com/?d=7TFRM5GJ

First off, you need to disable spore from logging on to EA. you can do this from the settings inside the game itself. Do this first. Second download the file and COPY it into spore/data (the folder with spore_game.package in it). Copying it will make certain it's created date is newer than whatever else is in that directory so it will override the required data.

Start a new game and enjoy. (any phase is fine)

Be aware, this mod saves its tweaks to your savegame, so deleting the mod will not remove it from any game based on it. Also if playing in any language other than english the mod may not work. One tester had it running in russian fine, another in dutch did not.

Also be aware that spore does not yet have a modding community, and the processes involved are in its infancy (cell phase) so there may be unforseen repurcussions. Over the course of making this mod I corrupted my game data (the game itself not just saves) several times. And while I am confident this cannot harm your system or game, there is a possibility it cannot be easily removed by simply deleting. I have a fix in mind, and will make and release it when/if the need arises. Although most likely logging in will undo any changes made by my mod. Actually, I would bet on it.

If you want to update spore, or log in for content, feel free. To reactivate my mod disable spore from logging in, and copy my mod to reset the created date.

Thanks to Geos and Gvertin. Without thier knowledge this would not have been possible.

    Anyway, enjoy

Edit - Messed up the times I had posted compared to what I put into the mods. Fixed. And spelling. Also, hopefully, fixed.

is the "don't log on to EA" just to make sure you don't get banned for using modified game files or is it just not working if you do?

Doesn't work if you do. They will somehow undo the changes the mod makes. Nothing else will happen.

Somehow it doesn't surprise me that EA would do something like that

Well your wrong there mate, they do not modify your settings when connected online, i did a monitoring session when connected online and the only thing they did do was update the sporepedia with creatures, buildings, vehicles, planets, and since today also new plants created by the maxis team.

So you can still use the mod online, now i would love to have the pirates, grox and disasters completely turned of so if you could make a mod for that.

Anyways so you really do need to start a new game for it to be used.

Still wondering tho why the other files didn't take where i disabled the opening movie :S

My mod worked for you while online? I need verification on that please, all other feedback I got from other sites pointed to the negative.

And the third variation of my mod puts the events at 100 hours apart. Effectivly turning them off. It was easier to do that than disable them. I am not sure how the game would handle that.

Thanks for posting this - I've tried putting the file in the data folder, where the spore_game.package is, but still getting attacked every few minutes.

I just can't play the game as is, because the attacks are coming so quickly!
