    Who's top of the table?

    According to the world:
    (gold-silver-bronze-medals)

    1 - China - 46 - 15 - 22 - 83
    2 - USA - 29 - 34 - 32 - 95
    3 - Great Britain - 17 - 12 - 11 - 40
    4 - Russia - 16 - 16 - 19 - 51
    5 - Australia - 11 - 13 - 14 - 38

    ....and according to America:

    1 - USA - 29 - 34 - 32 - 95
    2 - China - 46 - 15 - 22 - 83
    3 - Russia - 16 - 16 - 19 - 51
    4 - Great Britain - 17 - 12 - 11 - 40
    5 - Australia - 11 - 13 - 14 - 38

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I thought the nation with the most olympic gold medals was the winner...?

There is no overall winner in the Olympics, just winners for events.

In the end they will lay their freedom at our feet and say to us, 'Make us your slaves, but feed us.'

Yes there is. The team with the most golds is the overall winner.

We won in 1908 and 1948, the 2 years we hosted it.

I agree that the countries with the most golds should take the lead.

A nation could take 3 gold medals, no silvers, no bronze, out of 7, and another could easily rack up 1 gold and 6 silvers to lead.

It does go by golds. So China is winning in having the most golds. But like Dhampy said. Nobody is the winner of the whole Olympics, just events.

In 2002, Norway won the winter Olympics with a total of 25 medals. Germany had 36 medals.

It goes by gold medal count <_<

Wait till the winter Olympics and hockey gets into the picture. Everything else is minor.

I don't want a big car, particularly. I have no need for acreage, and I don't like the fuel bills. But I don't want a small one because they're all like supermarket own-brand cola: weedy imitations of the real thing - Jeremy Clarkson

And it might sound funny, but I would buy a O-Z just to get you in my bedroom.
