I used to be an unlimited member and when I signed up back in November of 2006 I believe I paid $9.99 or something very close to it. Today I considered rejoining to be able to download Battlestations Midway 1.1 trainer, however at $24.95 it just seems like an awful lot. The game itself didn't even cost me that. My question is... has there ever been any discussion around a limited membership option that may allow you to pay a pre-determined price for a specified number of downloads? Another option might be to give users the ability to pay to download a single trainer for $1.99, $2.99 or whatever it's worth. I'm not a big gamer so if I'm only looking for one or two downloads a year, $24.95 seems like a lot to pay.
I'm going to take a wild guess here, but my bet is that what you suggested will never ever happen.

This question comes up from time to time so I'm going to go ahead and address it.
Over the last two years we've dramatically increased the amount of custom programmed content that we produce. We're currently cranking out about 40-50 new or updated trainers every month along with producing videos and other things to help enhance our readers' experience here at the website. It costs us a lot of time and money to produce and maintain these things. We try our best to keep the membership price as fair as possible and we feel that it is. Even if you're only playing two or three games a year, it's still a great value as many games have multiple patch updates and each patch update requires a new trainer. We've updated our Company of Heroes + OF trainer *23* times now. We've updated some other games like World in Conflict and Neverwinter Nights up to 10 times. If we were to charge by the trainer, even at $2.99, CoH would have cost almost $70 by now and they're still releasing new patches for it. This is why we opted for the yearly membership plan. No one knows how many patches will come out for a game. Some get none and some get 20+. Some patches are released within days of each other. How mad would you be if you purchased a trainer and then a patch came out 2 days later which rendered it useless and you had to buy another?
We are currently looking into some alternate payment plans which we may implement sometime in the future.
I hope that answers your questions.
