that is correct, Mass Effect doesn't need the disk in the drive to run.

I normally use cracks so my disks don't get scratched more then they need to, but this game takes away the need for a crack.

The only time a crack is required is when you are using an illegal copy or you have activated it 3 times and can't be bothered to phone up.

You wouldn't want to use the "crack" any way as it breaks the galaxy map and your ability to save at some points. I guess it also crashes the game right before the end.

The trainer will work fine with the D2D as the D2D version is exactly the same as the retail, your just downloading it instead
