Help, can someone please tell me if they have a solution to this?

It seems that the trainers now include an authenticity check which requires an internet connection.

I have used the Mass Effect trainer which worked fine then my computer crashed and afterwards the trainer would no longer be able to connect to the internet to authenticate itself.

I have also tried creating and offline key and placed that in the same directory as the trainer but it still checks for internet connection and since it can't find one it crashed.

You must have something blocking the trainer. Antivirus, antispyware, Vista permissions, etc.

No I haven't and I have checked - it was working fine before the crash. I am running Vista x64 btw and for some strange reason my 32bit IE has stopped working as well (ie unable to connect to the net) so this probably explains the trainer problem too - 32bits programs can no longer access the net after the crash.

Sounds like your system has some problems. Get those fixed and the trainer will most likely work again.

Yeah, thanks for the advice PWizard. For some reason after the system crash the net went down for 32bit programs - had something to do with my NOD32 antivirus - as soon as I told it to fix the network connection the problems went away and I can use the trainer as normal.

PWizard - how does the offline key authentication work? I created the offline authentication key file and placed it in the same folder as the ME trainer but it still authenticates online?

It should work unless you have something blocking the trainer from reading the key file such as antivirus, antispyware, etc.
