I know I'm supposed to glide/fly to the stair case, I can't seem to get high enough to make it to the top of the higher staircase - I keep gliding to the lower staircase. The only thing on the lower staircase is a chest, I got that. How do I glide up to the top staircase???

Ok, I'll help you. there are air vents coming out of the lava. all you do is fly over the closest one to the staircase and stay on it until you are high enough to get to the upper staircase. then you go up the staircase.
