i am not sure what you are asking. the points unlocked the special gear,etc. that is available for each rank (for instance when you get to the equipment lockers, etc.) and you might also notice that if you save and then quit and then restart the game it will go through all the ranks and show you what has been unlocked. at least that is my experience-

The trainer unlocks all the armor etc, the weapons are unlocked by number of kills in game.
