Just so I get this right, even if the key is copied to the trainer folder the trainer will still try to dial home and I can just block it, right? BTW, I tend to keep my trainer files in the game folder so I will have to copy the key in multiple locations but all on the same machine. There should be no problem there, right?

Good job of thinking this up btw. Reminds me of SSH.

the way it works i believe is it only tries to contact cheathappens for online activation if it doesnt detect the .key file by the looks of it, so aslong as the .key file is with the trainer it will work without any connection at all, and you can use the same .key file for every trainer

Your remarks were both rude and unnecessary.

I didn't find his post offensive at all. So okay he has hit a raw nerve with you because he isn't happy how CH has implemented these changes. But that dosent give you the right to moderate his post because you didn't like it and thats what it comes down to he wasn't rude you just didn't like what he said.

If CH are going to makes changes then you have to expect you will be criticized by members if the changes are unpopular.

I've just got in on the end of this thread; I think authentication isnt such a bad thing; this offline key needs to be sufficiently encrypted for each trainer to prevent someone making a keygen.

Just one thing that would be nice is a big display showing the date that the trainer will be public, so I don't have to keep checking the site for all of my games.

I'm okay with the scheme actually though it does inconvinient me some.

I'm wondering though. For the offline key to work, can I run the generator on the computer that I want to run the trainer, then use another computer which have internet connection to get the key code?

The reason I'm asking is the gaming computer I have at home does not have internet (lousy Australia internet services). I can only access internet from another computer in Uni.

Thanks

So, saying that he hoped that our protections get cracked and that our trainers get spread over the internet was not offensive? We're trying to protect our work and ensure that we're able to continue making trainers for you guys. I understand that some people may disagree with what we do here and that's fine, but if you have that little respect for us and the hard work that goes into making and updating 40-50 trainers per month, then perhaps this isn't the place you need to be.

We're happy to debate this issue and I've left many comments that were negative regarding the changes, but his was over the top and offered nothing more than an offensive rant.
