damn how many other people have i explained this to
okay...*cracks knuckles* either you do DS to DS connection - that's connecting to someone with the game who is in the same room as you. of course this has limitations so if you want to visit people further afield then you can either use a wifi hotspot(tesco's is always good) or play over the internet through USB connection.
look at the instruction manual for more specific (and easier to understand) instructions.
