So what it is that makes this game bad?
EA is the anti-Midas touch company. Everything they touch turns to garbage.

For a more professional review, especially since I didn't stick it out till the end, check out almost anywhere else cause the common consensus is about the same.
my thoughts:-
****-poor graphics for the most part and one of my major peeves. Pretty good for 3-5 years ago but they don't stand up to today's competition in anyway. The first intro scene and level was shocking in places.
average gameplay. Its just as linear as COD4, which isn't always a bad thing, but the mission prompts are VERY vague and your path to advance is often hard to recognise. AI is non-existent. climbing ladders can be a trauma, having to move your crosshair a millimeter at a time to make the climb icon appear. Seriously, a climb icon? Its so hard to recognise what you have to do that they actually put interaction icons in that appear when you sweep your crosshairs over the bit you need to touch. Felt like a 3D Monkey Island...
storyline. What storyline? They had so much potential with this idea but I stopped caring about the invasion after the second mission. It never gripped me at all.
all in all; an extremely poor effort from the developers. There's nothing technically wrong with the game if it had been released a few years back, it reminded me a LOT of Far Cry for example (Though FC had a decent story presentation). BUt i don't think that's really acceptable today.
Overall, i was just really disappointed with this. I'm going back to the RTS World In Conflict which has a decent alternate invasion storyline.
Someone said that the developers weren't trying to make a next-gen title but a 'filler' I think the term was or something like that...
Okay, I can understand the logic there but christ, put a 'filler' price tag on it then. As a budget game, it's okay but not as serious release with a price tag of 30-40 quid.

Thanks darksider, I haven't heard a lot of good things about the game so far. It did have an interesting premise but its starting to appear they didn't do much with it. I will be holding off on buying this game.

I've personally played through the first several levels and finally said screw it when I made it to a "bridge/boat" fight mission that took 8 rockets to blow up the ship.
The story line is average, I mean it is really not all that terrible. I will however admit that the game play is more reminiscant of say SiN and Wages of SiN released years ago.
As for graphics it is pretty much par for the course of budget games. I wil say though that there is some pretty good texture work in places thoughout the game and that is a big testament to the graphics artists. One thing that irks me though is even though the protagonist is a steel worker...why several missions into the game (and even those that require some blending) did the designers decide not to give the guy a change of clothes. Petty I know but seriously who fights a war in their civies and than JOINS THE MILITARY and parachutes out of planes etc in civies let alone doing it at all!
Alot of the world interaction pieces are quite lame but they do get the job done.
As for the AI I agree it is some of the worst AI to come to PC yet in '08. At times it appears the game is trying to pretend it has AI as in random firing from behind barriers but all in all this is a run 'n gun game.
On a plus side the audio isn't all that bad, and hey you do get to assasinate the President of the USA.
For those of us looking to play a decent bargin bin game with a kick ass invasion story line I will ALWAYS recommend Freedom Fighter or as was mentioned previously World in Conflict.
