aight sometimes when i kill a mob i get a special sound and 2 or 3 higher level items apear at my feet. wondering why this happens so i know what to keep doing or if its just totaly random.

those are because you completed the mini-game, lower right hand corner icons, by killing or looting the appropriate items/mobs. see the forums for a list of the icons.
