Well, if it was the ring of death then the green lights that light up when you turn it on would be red and flashing. Then you can't do anything but send it in for repairs.

Or maybe, there's some internal glitch. My old 360 went glitchy after a year and a bit, and then died shortly after the 2 year mark. Since you have an older model of the 360, it's likely you'll experience some glitches on the 360. It's only temporary though... it should go away.
