Well, seeing as how probably at least 80% of the world hadn't ever even heard of the Battle of Thermopylae before the movie came out, it really taught plenty of people about it. Not all of the things were accurate, but not all of the things were false either.
I think it's more dangerous when history is misrepresented than when it is completely unknown.
Let's say all the facts in that movie was lies and rubbish, its still a good storyline and a good movie, right?

It was a **** movie and I dont even know what historical facts are true or not and I dont care, it was a movie, for entertainment, not a historical document, and it failed to entertain me. Tarantino ruins every movie he even so much as looks at.

Well it is historically accurate that the Persians attempted to take over more land. The battle which took place there was real along with the 300 Spartans that fought the Persians.

Close enough. Although it wasn't simply as black and white as that.
Well, let's see some things the movie did mention:
Earth & water Leonidas consulting the oracle "Come and get them" "We shall fight in the shade" The building of the wall The Thespians (I don't remember if it mentioned the Thebans or the Helots though...)
