Edit: apologise about that, it showed up on the internet movie database, but I did not realise that they do, in fact, cover video games.
The movie is not on IMBD, which means its not even being written or in concept stage...what you heard was a big old fashioned rumor.

As much as i loved the game, i really dont think it would make a very good movie if they ever did try to pull it off
