It's not dead. If you've seen the number of Guides for this game (including mine) you'd know that people obviously still play this game. Also, check this out: Link That should answer your question about this game being dead or not.
This game still has the second best story and the most hours of individual game play side from Crystal, plus the epic battle with Elite four is tough as. Graphics dont matter for pokemon, even in Diamond and Pearl the graphics are not that good, it just doesn't need them.
Yeah i agree with both of yosup and shibbz,because its still fun playing it even if its a bit old and i havent compleated it 100% yet i have to get all the gold and silver symbols in the Battle Frontier

i still play it. its a good game for taking time off of, plus rivalries never end, thanks to the pokenav, and in emerald, unlike FR/LG, you can battle gym leaders again. so thats good
ah please what you saying, I still play Pokemon Crystal and its way older than this game , and out of pokemon games I play games like 15 years old, check this out:
