Have a Gengar with Mean Look start the battle, then use Hypnosis and try to lower their HP. A speed above 100 should be good.

there's some info on wondering pokes in there
make sure to start in hub cities like jubilife, eterna or hearthome, you'll have a much greater chance of encountering mespirit/cresslia

yeah ive been using mean look but still no luck i either run out of pokeballs or kill them....but i keep going haha
