I'm getting this game this week and I was wondering, what makes this game better than the last one?

Well there are a few things that make it better, upgrades mainly...
But having played through both many, many times I'd have to say that KotOR I is still very much the better game.
I don't want to spoil anything for you so all I can say is play the game and have fun...I think you'll be surprised with both endings. Moreso of a feeling like this- "huh?"

I agree. KOTOR 1 is still the best the only good thing about KOTOR 2 is that your level cap has been raised and the cool new force powers like force crush.
