After playing for only 20 minutes i can not get past the beach part as the screen goes black and nothing happens (there is music in the background but thats all) please can someone provide a sollution? save games etc?

Sounds like it could be an issue with one of the pre-rendered cutscenes. I would think that \movies\j01_summoning.bik would be the one. Although if you can hear music, perhaps it's before the cutscene triggers. Not sure what would be causing it. All I can suggest is trying a reinstall of JE, making sure you have the latest version of DirectX, and the latest video card drivers. Also, you should list your system specs and OS. You aren't using Vista by any chance?
