Alright, I've been watching the news lately...and there are a lot of things in this world...or more specifically, this country that really...grind my gears.

So everyday or whenever something new and interesting comes up, I'll start a new topic and we'll discuss. Do you agree? Disagree? Why? Explain. Etc...

Topics can range from politics, religion...or just everyday issues. I'll start the first one with one of those. My opinions will come later.

Topic #1--I'm sorry:

Just a day or two ago, there was this thing on the news were a young student was forced by the principle of the school (public school) to give a kneeling apology (regardless of what he did) meaning he had to go on his knees and say that he was sorry to whoever he offended.

Immediately came the prosecutor and the defender. I'd rather not go into detail about what they said.

So do you think it was appropriate for this student to be forced to give a kneeling apology or not? Explain. What do you think the purpose of this was? What do you think the outcome was?

I do not think that action was lawful. By law, the principal cannot force a student to do an action that is not related to the curriculum defined by the Board of Education. I'm not saying that the kid didn't deserve that punishment, but the principal has no right to force it on him.

Now if the law were written so that the action is ok, then I would agree with the principal.

Nope, i think that was about word of the day or something like that.

Well we don't use corporal punishment anymore (which i must add is a good thing) in our schools, so we need to think of more creative punishments, i would have to agree with humiliation because i think it is pretty effective as i should know (not going in to any detail) it makes the offender think twice about what he might be getting himself in to, through experence i would have to say it works.

It is quite obivious that the principle is some sort of a power addicts. He sould be watch clously. One thing can lead to another... What the principle did was wrong. In the world we live in we sould all be treated with the same amount of equlity. That principle bought that student down and debased his equlity. And this action is one of the most horrible crimes of all...

Very interesting everyone...especially the equality thing. That'll lead to the next topic.

I think that it was good what the principle did. Humility is a good thing and what we need more of.

The humility that was put upon the kid, would most likely make him not do what he did again.
