So last night I was poking around in the Loki folder on my HD and found out that the .xmd are UTF-8 encoded .xml files, and thought... maybe there's a decryptor for this? Googled it and sure enough if the first result wasn't just a decryptor, but one specifically for Loki.

Back up the files in your "Characters/(Character Name)" folder and then decrypt the ones you want to edit and delete the .xmd's. Open the file in either an xml editor or notepad. If using notepad it's gonna be a little difficult as the info is all jumbled but atleast it's readable and editable now. You can always use Internet Explorer to view the XML files "properly" then search for what you want to edit in notepad once you find out what it is.

You can edit your inventory (I would only mess around with quantity of things like potions and materials (search for "matiere"), and can edit things in your character files like xp earned, level, faith points, total points in each deity, stats, etc.

Just leave the .xml file as it is after editing and saving. The game will read the .xml and encrypt it back to .xmd after saving.

    HI-

I think Death_Gamer wants to know how and when and why this is used. It needs more information on all that. Also what the encrypter is used for in the game.

    Thanks

Well it's not mine, I just found it. Copy the loki.xmd.exe to the character's folder then go to Start->Run and type "cmd" w/o the Quotes and that should open up a DOS-prompt. At this point if you installed to the default directory and use XP you would type "CD C:\Program Files\Cyanide\Loki\Characters\(Character Name)" and then you have to type "loki.xmd.exe -d inputfile.xmd outputfile.xml" where imput/outputfile is the file you want to decrypt. So for Inventory_Item.xmd file it'll look like "loki.xmd.exe -d inventory_item.xmd inventory_item.xml".

It looks and sounds more complicated that it really is. Try it and see. But I promise, it does work. I made a greek char and made her level 200 with 100 faith points in each deity and all her stats 5000 w/ 100% resists. I also made her training sword do 600-800 damage instead of 6-8 damage and changed it from being Iron to Arcanite. So it does work.

After opening a command prompt window with "cmd" you just need to use "cd" to navigate to the directory where the save games are, as I believe it is different in Vista, and then use the loki.xmd.exe files with the -d switch on the file in question.
